A coffee to start your day
& a craft beer to end it.
Local craft beer, NC wine, espresso, frappés & homemade fudge, poured with Currituck County roots. Morning coffee, evening pints, live music on the weekends.
Our Story
Six generations of Currituck County, one blue barn.
Blue 42's Brewing Barn opened in June 2023 right next to Powell's Roadside Market, the farm stand Paxtin Powell's father, William, built into a Currituck County staple over 46 years. The Powell family has farmed this land since the 1980s. Blue 42's is the next chapter, not a departure.
Paxtin, a 2021 Hampton University grad who played goalkeeper for the lacrosse team, named the barn after his jersey number and Hampton's blue, which is fittingly also his favorite color. After renovating a former antiques shop next door to the market, he opened a place that pours coffee in the morning and craft beer and wine by afternoon, with homemade fudge, biscuits, and live music tying it all together.
His parents, William and Eddie-Jo Powell, helped bring it to life. "It's going to make it a lot more exciting," William said of the addition next door. Eddie-Jo relocated the family's homemade fudge production into the Barn's temperature controlled space, giving their fudge maker steady work through the winter.
